Boaty's Baptism
As mentioned previously, no sooner had we checked in to our hotel, then we were told that there was a new boat being baptised (I think the lady on reception meant launched, by but baptism was the only word she could think of) in 10 minutes. So we had no sooner carried the first of the bags up to the room (no need to pack light when you travel by car) then we headed out to the landing stage to witness the event.
Here (hopefully) is Eleanor watching the massed ranks of Tirolese bandsmen and, what appeared to be the home guard, marching to the lake side.
After extensive prayers and a rifle salute, the boat was annointed with liquid appropriate to the occasion (I couldn't see through the press of the crowd to determine what exactly was used), nor were we able to assertain the boats name. But we will no doubt be aboard it at some point this week and will be able to report back accordingly.
